The Summer is now with us and as I look out onto the track, it is howling down with rain and the sky is a leaden grey colour. Fortunately, June has been predominantly warm and dry and we have welcomed a fantastic variety of two and four wheeled machinery to Blyton Park since my last update.

June 9th was a particularly amazing day as the boys from Auto Express returned : Not content with their last visit (Merc SLS and Aston Virage), this time they brought the new McLaren and a Ferrari 458 Italia, the first time these amazing supercars had shared a track anywhere in the world.

On June 11th Simon Perry brought the Drifters into town. I had a ride in his fearsome Nissan Skyline… and I am still taking the pills!!!!

The following day we welcomed the members of Supercar Driver which is an exclusive club for owners of exotic and expensive machinery. Never have so many beautiful cars graced the track at once. Sadly, the weather turned sour in the afternoon but I had a great ride in a Murcielago and it was great to see such an array of lovely cars.

Competitive Motorsport returned on June 19th with another round of the MDA Rallycross Championship. There was plenty of close competition and thrills and spills on the super fast 1 mile Rallycross track.

More SuperCars were in evidence week commencing June 27 as SuperCar Lifestyle took over the circuit to give potential members a taste of driving some more exotic stuff. The helicopter parked here for three days also gave a flavour of a Supercar Lifestyle!!

Our friends from Norasport brought their SuperMoto Championship to Blyton Park at the beginning of July with Toby and Mike Taylor having built a completely new layout for their track. This seemed to go down very well with all competitors and the Superlite races were particularly fast and furious. We look forward to their return at the end of August.

Track days continued to provide a rich source of interesting machinery: some favourites include a lovely Formula 2 Lotus and a rare Shrike Sports 2000.

Javelin, Mazda-On-Track and Apex have all run days and will be back for more throughout the Summer. Check our Calendar for dates but contact the companies direct for availability.

Private tests and hire days have also brought some very interesting cars to us in the last few weeks : everything from racing Citroen 2CV’s to the new Chevrolet Spark F1000 rally car built by XS Racing. I particularly enjoyed Paul Stringer’s Lotus Formula Junior and Reynard F3 car on July 8th : the latter powered by the rare Alfa Romeo twin spark motor.

Important news : We have been granted a Sprint License by the MSA and would like to thank John Symes for his kind comments and encouragement.

WE NOW HAVE A TELEPHONE: this has been a bit of a saga but we would like to thank the engineers from BT Openreach. You can call Blyton Park on 01427 628 922.
